Saturday I was able to collect my latest batch of pendants and buttons.  I'm really happy with some of the results.  Including a bunch of buttons, I collected around 70 pieces - so its going to take awhile to photograph them all properly and edit the images for posting.  Not to mention I'm playing around with different cords/chains etc. for hanging - which I'll get into in more detail later.

As I said in an earlier post, my intention with some of the new pieces was to "hide" the holes by which the pieces or pendants are strung on cords.  So the emphasis is on the piece itself, and you're not distracted by seeing a hole (its hard to work a hole into an underglaze design and have it make sense). I spent an hour or so this morning on Queen West looking through various bead shops -  I ended up at the old Toronto classic, ARTON beads - ok, we're talking a whole new world for someone like myself who really has no idea about the world of jewellry findings, and all the options that are available to someone who is not a silver smith and can't build everthing from the ground up.  I bought some sterling silver clasps - to use in combination with sterling silver coated steel that is then nylon dipped - this is very pretty, and super strong.  I also picked up a number of different collar type necklaces - which is a style that is like a ring that goes around the neck and has some kind of latch at the back - but the necklaces are fairly rigid and are great for hanging pieces on.  I picked up 3 different kinds that have different latching findings just to experiment with and see what works best.

Oh -oh, just found a mistake....I've just had close look at the necklace thats made up of 3 different triangle shapes (for lack of a better description) and, I see that I actually strung the pieces on wrong...I designed this pieces so the one drawing would extend over the three pieces....and I'm noticing now it doesnt match and that there is good reason for this - the pieces are in a muddled up order.  I only noticed this as the things I do are usually asymmetrical - and I was looking at this thinking, hmm...thats way too symmetrical for me - what happened?   Ooops.  Its fixable but a pain.  As the clasp is glued and pinched in place - I will have to cut the wire and the silver clasp pieces will then be useless to me - I'll have to use new ones.  I'm glad I caught it ....
